Then, snipping off their shallow roots,

these cuckoos swoop

on another nest

full of old-world charm,

but not the in-vogue sort.

Tunnel vision fixed

on keeping up the right look

for their latest transit lounge.

So, demolition time again,

new erection twice the size.

Conquer every last inch of space

Garden? - so passe

Far more impressive

to have three bathrooms

and shelters for the four-wheel

ego-driven monsters

of these growth fetish junkie

nouveau nomads.

De-greening, paving mad

What else can you do

when you've got no taste

and would sell your soul

if you had one.
